Vegan leather. When we first heard about this term, it raised some eyebrows. Is it leather, some kind of artificial fabric? One thing we knew for sure: we were intrigued.
Vegan leather label Matt & Nat is one of the first labels working with this innovative material. They create contemporary, high-quality bags and shoes using recycled natural materials and PU and PVC. These materials represent the look and feel of genuine leather and are just as durable.
Founded in Montreal in 1995 Matt & Nat (Ma(t)erial and Nature) made it their mission to produce the most eco- and animal friendly handbags possible. Inspired by the textures and hues of nature, they explored the “synergy” between design materials and the natural world.
The linings of the bags are made out of recycled plastic bottles
Ever since the label started in ‘95, Matt & Nat keeps on trying to find innovative ways to produce as socially conscious as possible. The linings of their bags are piece by piece made out of 100 percent recycled plastic bottles. And the label is experimenting with more different ways to upcycle, by recycling natural materials such as nylon, cardboard, rubber and cork.
As a store we are always keeping our own philosophy in mind while curating new brands and designers. That is why, when an innovative brand such as Matt & Nat comes our way, we feel grateful that we can share in our vision. As well as Matt & Nat we are impassionate about minimalistic and timeless design and we are conscious about the world around us.
